Bird Problems

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009

If you are fortunate enough to have a cherry tree in your yard, I am sure I do not have to tell you how much pleasure can come from them. Just eating the savory cherries that spawned from your tree is a satisfying experience in itself.

Looking out your back window and seeing a wonderful, wonderful cherry tree is also rewarding. But together with the joys a cherry tree can bring, there are numerous annoyances. They appear to attract more unwelcome creatures than any other plant in the world. Pretty much every day it kind of feels like there’s a new kind of disease swarming the tree, attempting to get a nibble of its tasty fruits. I won’t say I blame them, but if they need to eat tasty fruits then they should grow their own trees. One of the main and most steady issues that the majority deal with is birds eating the fruit off the tree.

Of course, birds can come in from any angle and make a fast getaway with the cherries. Or they can sit unnoticed in the branches and munch away all day. However, there are many alternative ways you can deter the birds from your place. The most used way of repelling birds is to set a plastic owl in the vicinity of the house. If you find any animal that often eats birds and buy a plastic version, often real birds will be instinctual enough to avoid it.

These can include snakes, owls hawks, or scarecrows.u OK, perhaps they do not eat birds usually. The majority of the time you should buy these at your local gardening store. If you need a different version or a more lifelike illustration, if you look online then you are certain to find something which will work. If you get a plastic animal of some kind generally it will cure the bird problem for a bit. However, some birds are just actually brave  and will continue to eat from your tree. Just about any reflective surface or noisy object will stop the birds from coming too near. I typically use this together with a giant collection of wind chimes for max scaring. When you have a plastic animal with reflective items and loud items, pretty much all birds will be too scared to even go close.

While they’d appear to be a pest occasionally, birds can be the sole thing that livens up your garden. If you are used to having birds and then all of a sudden you’ve scared them all away, you may feel just like there are some things missing from your yard.
